SUMMARY:Workshop Self-assessing your Agility
DESCRIPTION:An interactive online workshop where you learn how to assess your agility using gamification and take the next steps on your agile journey: Join me on September 7\, 2023\, for this live online workshop. \nA one-day workshop for €350. \n \n \nSelf-assessing your Agility\nIn the workshop Self-assessing your Agility\, you will practice games and exercises to explore how agile your teams are. \nWe’ll be playing The Agile Self-Assessment Game\, a serious game used by teams and organizations to self-assess their agility. Playing this game enables professionals to reflect on collaboration and team interworking and agree upon the next steps for their agile journey. With this game\, they can discover how agile they are and what they can do to increase their agility to deliver more value to their customers and stakeholders. \nThis cooperative card game uses an engagement model to involve people in the assessment. Instead of imposing change\, the game enables people to pull in ideas for change and apply those in a way that best suits their collective needs. \nNext\, you’ll learn how to create an “agile map” that inspires you with ideas for increasing your agility and provides suggestions on where to go next on your agile journey. \nIn this workshop\, you will experience different playing formats of The Agile Self-assessment Game. You’ll hear about the importance of pre-selecting cards to create focused card decks and find out about different exercises that can be used to self-assess and play your agile journey. \nThe Agile Self-assessment Game supports all agile teams\, whether using Scrum\, Kanban\, XP\, Lean\, DevOps\, DaD\, SAFe\, LeSS\, Nexus\, Scrum@Scale\, or any other agile framework. Specific agile frameworks are supported by expansion packs for Scrum\, DevOps\, Business Agility\, and Kanban. Retrospective facilitators need to have a toolbox of retrospective exercises and the skills to design and facilitate remote agile retrospectives. \nRemote retrospectives pose extra challenges due to not having people in one physical room for the retrospective: \n\nRecognizing and dealing with retrospective smells or anti-patterns is hard in online meetings (but it can be done!)\nIt’s more difficult to foster productive and collaborative behavior and keep everyone involved during the retrospective\nNot physically being together calls for different retrospective exercises and innovative ways to do exercises online\nPsychological safety is a key issue in any retrospective\, it’s even more challenging when people collaborate remotely\n\nIn the workshop Better ways to Facilitate Remote Retrospectives\, we will practice doing remote retrospectives while fostering psychological safety using exercises that keep people involved. SUMMARY:Getting People Engaged into Agile with Self-Assessments at DevOpsCon Berlin 2022
DESCRIPTION:I’m returning to DevOpsCon Berlin to do an interactive session about Getting People Engaged into Agile with Self-Assessments. Join me June 20-23\, onsite in Berlin\, or online. \nGetting People Engaged into Agile with Self-Assessments\nMany agile “transformations” are failing\, where one of the main reasons is how they are imposing agile models and practices on people. Such an approach conflicts with the agile values and principles\, it’s incongruent and hence ineffective. Engagement models take a different approach\, they involve people in the change process and help them to define and travel their own agile journey. \nLet’s explore how we can use engagement models and gamification to involve people in the change process and help them define and travel their own agile journey. We will play the Agile Self-Assessment Game to experience how to enable people to pull in ideas for change and apply those in a way that best suits their needs. \nPlaying the Agile Self-Assessment Game enables teams to reflect on their own team interworking and agree upon the next steps for their agile journey. With this card game\, they can discover how agile they are and what they can do to increase their agility to deliver more value to their customers and stakeholders. Join us to explore the Agile Self-Assessment Game and try out different playing scenarios. \nDevOpsCon Berlin\nEvery year in June\, DevOpsCon Berlin is the go-to event for DevOps enthusiasts. \nThis year\, too\, we look forward to meeting you again! \nBecause we want to ensure that the lively exchange of knowledge and ideas so typical of DevOpsCon Berlin continues to work well\, we were one of the first in the conference industry to develop our hybrid concept. \nYou can choose to attend the conference either on site or online from your home or office. In order to be accessible to all participants\, all DevOpsCon tracks will be streamed live. Using professional video technology\, all lectures and workshops will be broadcast live. And that’s not all: You can also get in touch with our speakers and expo partners\, even if you won’t be there!

SUMMARY:How Agile Are You? Let’s Play the Agile Self-assessment Game @ Agile Humans Lean Coffee!
DESCRIPTION:I’ve been invited to the Agile Humans Lean Coffee meetup to facilitate a session where we play the Agile Self-assessment Game online. Join me on May 6: Book your seat at Agile Humans Lean Coffee. \nHow Agile Are You?\nLet’s get together and play the Agile Self-assessment Game. \nDuring this meetup\, Ben Linders will show how gamification enables you to pull in ideas for change and apply those in a way that best suits your collective needs. We’ll be playing with the Agile Self-assessment Cards to find out how this works. There’s also time for questions on agile adoption\, transformations\, and self-assessments. \nIt is a serious cooperative card game\, an agile ”compass & map”. \nJoin us and find out: \n– Where you are on your agile journey and get inspired with ideas and suggestions on where to go next. \n– What you can do to increase your agility to deliver more value to your customers and stakeholders. \nYou can play with the self-assessment cards in agile retrospectives\, or use the cards to set up a team or explore how things are going in your team. Games can be played with cards in co-located and distributed teams; there are many different playing formats available and you can design your own online game format using digital card images. \nAgile Humans Lean Coffee\nThis is a group for anyone interested in Agile organizational culture and agile practices. \nAgile Humans Lean Coffee is committed to improving the quality and quantity of the first Agile manifesto value: Individuals and Interactions over Processes and Tools. \nWe help each other improve our work by teaching each other what we’ve learned through practice. \nInitially\, our meetup group used to gather the local agile community in Serbia\, but now we have become international – our meetups are online and the communication is in English. We have monthly practitioner-driven talks\, every first Thursday at 6.30 pm.

SUMMARY:Virtual Agile Self-assessments in Remote and Distributed Teams
DESCRIPTION:I’m doing a short webinar on Virtual Agile Self-assessments in Remote and Distributed Teams on October 26\, in collaboration with Agile Actors #learning. \nVirtual Agile Self-assessments in Remote and Distributed Team\nWorking in remote or distributed teams can be challenging. Distance and time differences make it more difficult to work together. Where communication tools have improved significantly over the years\, they don’t really help us to find out how people think or feel or to establish a collaborative culture. \nIn this interactive free virtual webinar\, Ben Linders will explore how we can do virtual agile self-assessments to reflect on the way of working in distributed teams. Playing the Agile self-assessment Game online\, teams can dive deeply into how things are going and agree upon actions to improve how the team collaborates and communicates. \nThe Agile Self-assessment Game is used by teams and organizations to self-assess their agility. It uses an engagement model to involve people in the assessment to not impose change on people but instead enables them to pull in ideas for change and apply those in a way that best suits their needs. Join this webinar to learn how to play the Agile self-assessment Game in remote and distributed teams. \nOn November 19-20\, Ben Linders will give the online virtual course Continuous Improvement in Remote and Distributed Teams. \nAgile Actors #learning\nAgile Actors #learning is the Learning Ecosystem for the ambitious and talented tech professional. From setting meaningful personal goals to getting personal coaching\, it helps you find your next career dot and deliver value to the real world. \nWe are helping Tech Professionals to combine theory with best practices as well as real-world experiences in order to grow and excel. \nOur courses\, developed by experienced Software Engineers\, Testers\, Agile Coaches focus on hands-on examples and projects to get you up to speed with any new technology\, tool or methodology.

This session is part of the DevOps transformation day. \nAssessing Agility with Gamification\nThere isn’t a silver bullet or standard route to increase your agility\, you have to find your own way. Copying a model to become agile won’t help\, and imposing agile upon people isn’t an effective approach. What does work is empowering your teams by helping them find out how agile they are\, using exercises and games to set course for their own agile journey. \nIn this session\, Ben Linders will show you how can use gamification to self-assess your current way of working and explores how you can do agile self-assessments to reflect and improve. Playing the Agile self-assessment Game\, onsite or online\, teams can dive deeply into how things are going and agree upon actions to improve how the team collaborates and communicates. \nThe Agile Self-assessment Game is used by teams and organizations to self-assess their agility. It uses an engagement model to involve people in the assessment to not impose change on people but instead enables them to pull in ideas for change and apply those in a way that best suits their needs. Join this session to learn how to play the Agile self-assessment Game in onsite\, remote\, and distributed teams. \nDevOpsCon Berlin\nThe Conference for Continuous Delivery\, Microservices\, Containers\, Cloud & Lean Business – Berlin or Online. \nDevOps is fundamentally changing the IT world and sets the path for successful business transformation. Join DevOpsCon to learn about the latest tools\, technologies\, and methodologies for building and maintaining secure\, scalable\, and resilient software systems. \nHow do cloud platforms\, microservices\, and Kubernetes play together with comprehensive automation and continuous delivery? How can you handle increasing complexity in your organization and empower high-performance teams with the right tools and agile methodologies? DevOpsCon provides plenty of answers. \nAt DevOpsCon\, you will meet internationally recognized thought leaders of the DevOps movement and benefit from their expertise. Attend inspiring sessions and in-depth workshops to learn what you need to push your DevOps skills to the next level.

SUMMARY:Workshop Increasing your Agility at Agile by Example 2017
DESCRIPTION:Agile by Example\nAgileByExample has been organised since 2011. It all started with 125 agilists in a small Warsaw music club. Since then\, each year ABE was growing. \nThe key trademark of ABE is the “by example” theme—the conference provides case studies and experience reports of real world struggles with adopting agile methods and techniques. Beside that ABE is known for the audio/video quality (organized in cinema rooms with huge screens and superb sound systems) and top-notch organization. \nContact me for a discount to attend Agile by Example! \nWorkshop Increasing your Agility\nI’m doing a 1/2 day Dojo – seats are limited. \nThere isn’t a standard route to become agile\, you have to find your own way. Methods and frameworks don’t tell you how to increase your agility.\nThe Agile Self-Assessment Game is an “agile map”. You will play the game to find out how agile you are and get inspired with ideas and suggestions on where to go next on your agile journey.\nThe Backpacking Retrospective Exercise can be used to visualize your path to agility and decide what you will take along on their journey. Doing this exercise helps you to decide upon the vital few actions that are needed now to prepare and continue your agile journey.\nCome play the Agile Self-Assessment Game and the Backpacking Retrospective Exercise in teams to discover how agile you are and what you need to pack to increase your agility.\nPlayers will receive a link to download the card game and retrospective exercise so that they can play them in their own organization (CC BY-NC-ND 3.0 License).

SUMMARY:XP Days Benelux 2016
DESCRIPTION:The XP Days program committee has accepted my workshop “Agile Self-Assessment Game” for the XP Days Benelux 2016 conference. How cool is that! \nBecoming agile is a journey\, which can be difficult to travel. Assuming that you know why you want to become agile (a first but crucial step) you start looking for ways how to get there. Questions like “what do you want to keep from your current way of working” and “what would you like to change” will come up. Then the next question is “what are ways to this”. \nThere isn’t a silver bullet or standard route to become agile\, you have to find your own way. A fixed route description won’t help you. You need an “agile map” that inspires you with ideas and suggestions on where to go to support your journey. The Agile Self-Assessment game is here for you to travel your agile journey. \nCome play the Agile Self-Assessment game in teams at XP Days Benelux 2016 to discover how agile you are and what you can do to increase your agility. \nPlayers will receive a link to download the card game so that they can play it in their own organization (CC BY-NC-ND 3.0 License). \nFrom the XP Days website: \nXP Days Benelux is an international conference where we learn to bring software to life and grow mature systems that support business needs. \nIt provides an excellent environment for exchanging ideas\, hands-on exercises and extreme experiences. \nThe conference is organized by the Dutch and Belgian agile community and the location alternates between Belgium and The Netherlands. \nXP Days Benelux is the only conference that I know that allows presenters to continuously improve the details of their proposals. For instance when they develop new insights for their talks or workshop\, or based on feedback that they get from other participants and the organizers. In return they ask to help other participants improve their session. The conference uses a Perfection Game exercise for giving constructive and useful feedback.
